Our Mission

Ummeed NGO’s mission is to support people experiencing homelessness, people living with mental illness and underserved communities in Lucknow. We provide food, shelter, education and emotional support, helping people meet their immediate needs while working towards long-term rehabilitation and a life with dignity.

Through community outreach, medical assistance, counselling and family reunification, Ummeed NGO helps vulnerable individuals access care and reconnect with support systems. We believe everyone deserves to be seen, valued and supported. Our work combines immediate relief with ongoing care to restore hope and help people rebuild their lives.

Our Vision

Ummeed NGO envisions a society where everyone has a safe place to sleep, access to basic necessities and opportunities to learn and grow. As an NGO in Lucknow, our long-term vision is to eliminate homelessness across Uttar Pradesh through shelter, food and compassionate support, helping people move towards safer, more dignified lives.

We envision a future where compassion shapes public policy, children living on the streets can access education, and elderly people receive care and respect. Through community participation, government support and dedicated volunteers, Ummeed NGO works towards a more inclusive society where vulnerable individuals have the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Our History

Founded in 2004 in Lucknow, Ummeed NGO began with a small team of volunteers providing food and shelter to people experiencing homelessness, people dependent on begging and individuals living with mental illness who lacked family or community support. Our purpose was simple: to restore dignity, offer compassionate care and help vulnerable people rebuild their lives.

Over the years, Ummeed NGO expanded its work to include education, mental health support, medical care and rehabilitation programmes. Through collaboration with government bodies, schools and community members, we work to make our shelters places of safety and pathways towards a more secure future.

From rescuing vulnerable children at railway stations to providing night shelters across multiple districts, our journey reflects a commitment to practical support and lasting care. Today, Ummeed NGO continues to serve communities across Uttar Pradesh through a growing network of shelters, helping people find safety, support and renewed hope.
