Bringing Hope to the Forgotten – The Best NGO in Lucknow

Founded in 2004, UMMEED began as a small shelter in Lucknow and Pan India run by a group of social workers, professionals, and everyday heroes who refused to look away from the pain of the homeless and helpless. UMMEED NGO is a Guinness World Records and Limca Book of Records holder organization, primarily focused on supporting homeless and migrant populations, particularly in Lucknow, India.

What started as a modest initiative has now transformed into India’s most trusted NGO, reaching out to:

  • Homeless individuals.
  • People struggling with mental illness
  • Street children and beggars
  • The elderly and abandoned

Our aim is simple yet powerful – to bring dignity, safety, and opportunity to every life we touch. We’re not just providing shelters; we’re rebuilding hope.

Our Mission

At UMMEED, our mission is to uplift the homeless, mentally ill, and underprivileged by restoring their right to live with dignity. We aim to provide food, shelter, education, and emotional support to those left behind by society. Our work focuses not just on immediate relief, but also on long-term rehabilitation, so each person we help is given a second chance to live with purpose and pride.

We believe that no one deserves to be invisible. Through continuous outreach, medical assistance, counseling, and reuniting families, we strive to bring hope into lives that have seen too much despair. Our mission extends beyond charity—it’s about creating real, sustainable change, one life at a time.

Our Vision

We envision a society where every individual, regardless of their background, has a safe place to sleep, access to basic needs, and the opportunity to grow. Our long-term vision is to eliminate homelessness from the streets of Uttar Pradesh, starting with one shelter, one meal, one smile at a time. As a dedicated NGO in Lucknow, UMMEED is committed to turning this vision into reality.

UMMEED sees a future where compassion leads policy, where schools are filled with children who once begged on the streets, and where the elderly are cared for with the respect they deserve. Our vision is not just a dream—it is a collective responsibility. With public participation, government support, and unwavering volunteerism, we are building a better, kinder tomorrow.

Our History

UMMEED was born out of a simple, yet powerful need—to give the homeless a voice, and the helpless a reason to live. Founded in 2004 in Lucknow, our organization started as a small team of volunteers offering food and shelter to beggars and mentally ill individuals abandoned by society.

Over the years, our work expanded to include education, mental health support, medical care, and rehabilitation programs. We’ve collaborated with government bodies, schools, and compassionate citizens to ensure that our shelters are not just safe spaces, but stepping stones toward a better life.

From rescuing destitute children from railway stations to offering night shelters across multiple districts, our journey has been rooted in empathy and action. Today, UMMEED stands as a beacon of hope across Uttar Pradesh, with a growing network of shelters and smiles.
